Just signing in to say hi and renew my contact with the
society that gave me my sense of purpose and perspective in
life. I attended the Convent of the Sacred Heart in Malta
between 1975 and 1988. Although I am originally from Malta I
now live in the United States. Hope to make to New Orleans
when the time comes around:)

What a wonderful sorprise for me to find this web
site.
I studied in Lima at the Instituto Pedagogico Nacional de
Monterrico (similar to a Universtiy College)and graduated
1965. Those were the most wonderful years of my life. We not
only received education, we were moulded in the Spirit of
the Sacred Heart (and Mater).
I am an Early Childhood Teacher. Right now, I am the lead
trainer of the first international project in ECE funded by
the Gov't of Canada to train educators in the marginal areas
of Buenos Aires. Is there a chat room for alumnae? it would
be great to exchange ideas, resources, etc.
God bless you all!

It especially made one so aware of the world fellowship. Is

and have copied a lot of the talks for friends. It is all

To Alumnae of the World, this week has been the most
amazing experience in international relationships, learning
and sharing from far sighted speakersand each other, and
personal change. WE have travelled through the full panorama
of cultures, language, attitudes, and most of us have
shifted to more neutral ground allowing ourselves to become
more open to opinions and experiences which may have been
far from anything our lives to date prepared us to accept OR
ratified vague stirrings of conscience which we can now give
shape and commitment to. No one could have attended this
AMASC Congress and not been changed by it. It was a Congress
shaped by the collective love & willingness to listen.
As Congress Convener I thank you all personally for your
physical and emotional support - YOU were the real SUCCESS
of this international meeting of minds. Much love,

encouragement to the AMASC Australian team as we make final
preparations to host nearly 500 alumnae from 29 countries at
our Congress.
Let us hope that the spirit of Easter will invigorate us in
these tiring moments!!
I want to pay special thanks to two amazing workers for this
Congress - Vickie Greig, the Congress Convenor, who keeps us
all on line and is now currently ensuring that we are
tightly on budget! The other is Anne de Broglio, our
webmaster, who has developed the web over the last year for
us. She has exciting plans for it over the Congress week to
enable all who cannot be with us physically to check in each
day and keep up with the papers presented and the events of
the day.
How fortunate we are today to be only 24 hours away from any
part of the world; to have instant communication through
inexpensive phone connections and the email. In St Madeleine
Sophie's time it took over three months to reach Australia
from Europe ... and the mail took this time each way.
As we open our hearts here in Sydney, we include you all
with us in the sharing of this great event for us.
Much love and Easter blessings to you all.

Dear Friends,
Just to tell you that I had made plans long ago to attend
the Congress and take the opportunity to fulfill one of my
all time dreams and visit Australia, one of the countries
that I think is probably the most beautiful in the world and
very similar to mine. But unfortunately God had other plans
for me, and due to health problems I won't be able to go...
but my heart will be there with all of you and I will be
connected to the web everyday to see what's going on there,
on the other side of the world. I wish all the luck to you
and the greatest success ever!

THE COUNT DOWN HAS STARTED - Just 2 weeks now until I put
faces to names and welcome you to my beautiful home city.
Our committee has worked creatively and diligently for 4
years to bring you the best possible congress in Sydney and
we are delighted with the scope and format for meeting which
has evolved. World President, Trish Burns, gave us the
original briefing that her main aims for the Congress were
geared to creating a format which made real communication
across the culture gap, not only possible but
inevitable.
I think you will find that this will be achieved and that
you return home having really CONNECTED with other alumnae
with whom you already share so much. Please pray that we all
stay well, that the weather will be fine, and that we are
charged with even greater energy in these last few weeks.
Take care on your travels to Down Under
Much love across the miles,

Loyal member of Colorado Sacred Heart Alumnae. I spent 12
yrs at the original Forest Ridge in Seattle-as did my Mother
and Aunts. I was among the 1st group of graduates of the
University of San Diego in 1958. It has become a World Class
institution since I cleaned chalk boards and made sodas with
the nuns. I have lived in Denver since 1961. My last Intl

Your prayers and condolences are so appreciated by your
sisters and brothers in the United States. We are truly
members of a worldwide family and your support is a great
consolation during this dark time. Please continue to pray
for the victims of the terrorist attacks and for their
families, and remember that many hundreds of those who were
killed in New York City were citizens of Britain, Japan,
Australia, South Korea, and Mexico. Let us also console the
people of those countries, who were so affected by the
events of September 11. May God bestow wisdom upon our
national leaders and may their decisions bring world peace
and justice.

It is at times like this that we treasure our "family" of
the Sacred Heart and offer each other gestures of friendship
and comfort in whatever way we can. Let us keep each other
in the silence of the prayers of our hearts where peace,
healing and renewal may be found.

and notes of concern. We in the United States are hurting
and joining each other in the spirit of unity. Even here on
the West Coast so far from the tragedy there is hardly a
family that has not been touched if even in just a minor
way, either with friends in New York, cancelled flights,
incompleted plans etc. Please continue to pray four our
country and for all the countries of the world as there is
so much healing that has to happen here and abroad. Please
pray too that our leaders will make the right decisions. We
as members of AMASC are fortunate as we have the love and
support of our members worldwide. Love, Susanna M. Lane

mot.

The world is stunned and totally at one with the United
States in its terrible moment. We join in unity, love and
deep compassion for all Americans in your grief. We pray for
all those who perished, for their families, for the
rescuers, for the comforters. We also pray for all those
non-Americans who also perished far from their homes and
their families. The horror is almost non-comprehensible ...
the senselessness, the destruction of human life, the
assault on the nation. May we all pause and reflect and each
one in our own way try to build more love in our world to
counteract hatred, viscousness and futility.
We all share your grief and are deeply with you in spirit as
you rebuild your confidence knowing that the world is with
you.
With deep empathy in the Sacred Heart,
Trish

The Hilltop Sacred Heart Alumnae of our former high
school in St.Joseph, MO are searching for old senior
composites to be permanently displayed at Bishop LeBlond
High School. When our school, the Sacred Heart Convent,
closed in 1960,LeBlond was built and staffed by Benedictine
nuns.We have an active alumnae association and have taken on
this project to ensure our school and the Sacred Heart nuns
who staffed it from 1853-1960 will live on as a paramount
chapter in the history of St.Joseph.Please contact me if you
can help us in this endeavor. Thank you.

connection is SO welcome. I am a very very senior "old girl"

I'm sorry about the comments of the two previous senders.
Unfortunately we have had serious illness problems which
resulted in the website not being updated for a period of
time. I am absolutely thrilled with the new site and within
days we shall be featuring the brochure for the Congress in
Sydney in 2002. I also receive many emails complementing on
the site. Perhaps the two who have just commented may like
to send some news for the site.
The time and work involved by our new Webmaster has been
amazing, especially considering she also has a responsible
career to also hold down. I'm sorry to read of such open
criticisms ... I find it so lacking in Sacre Coeur spirit.
In future please direct to me personally.

declining. Previous layouts have been much more

Dear Anne,
Thank you for the wonderful work you are doing to get our
site up and running again. It is super to have a guest book
again too.
The Congress brochure has just come back from the designer
and our committee will proof read it over the weekend. So I
hope you will be able to put the entire Congress Brochure -
the programme, the pre & post tours in Australia and New
Zealand, etc up on the website early next week. We are very
excited about offering it to the alumnae of the world.
With love and gratitude, Trish Burns and Vickie
Greig.
