The 40th Anniversary of the Opening of the Sacred Heart School
from KASH(Korean Alumnae Association of the Sacred Heart)

40 years have passed since the Sacred Heart School was established in Korea. In commemoration of the 40th anniversary, we had a festival from September 18th to 20th 1998. All the alumnae and undergraduates of Sacred Heart school gathered together to recollect the past 40 years' history and accomplishments of the Sacred Heart.

We had a opportunity of visiting a high school class at work, and saw various exhibitions and presentations prepared by 14 classes. Above all, a play showing how the Society of the Sacred Heart developed from its establishment in France by the founder St. Madeleine Sophie 200 years ago through to the opening of a school in Korea, was staged in several languages including French, English, Japanese and Korean. It was received with hearty rounds of applause from the audience.

There was also a "Loving School Bazaar"to raise funds for the new construction of high school buildings. There we had the pleasure of buying a number of articles for love of alma mater and, further, enhanced the friendship between seniors and juniors. The profits were donated to the high school.

And we have built a "memorial" to exhibit many materials which shows the course the Sacred Heart has followed for the past 40 years. Finally, we had a wonderful two hour 'Sacred Heart Concert' offered by both alumnae and undergraduates. The chorus consisting of the undergraduate students and the performances of the piano, the flute, the harp and the cello by the alumnae were in beautiful harmony and deeply impressed all of us.

The 40th anniversary of the opening of the Sacred Heart in Korea, as mentioned above, led all Sacred Heart woman to band together and feel proud of their alma mater through a variety of meaningful events.
