IN MEMORIAM - FILOMENA LUCIANI AND MARGUERITE NYST-SEIGNEUR

"Emeritus" members of AMASC (following the terms of the new Constitution), have been deeply stricken this summer of 1998...most especially the original team who founded our International Association of Alumnae of the Sacred Heart - that is, the organising team of the Brussels World Congress in 1965 who later became the members of the new organisation's "bureau".

On the 6th of July, FILOMENA LUCIANI died rather unexpectedly at her home in Rome. As a lawyer and President of the Italian Association, she had been deeply involved in the making of the first AMASC Constitution. She then became Counsellor and archivist for many years.

Although she had ceased to have any official role, her interest and love for AMASC never dwindled.

On August 9th, in Brussels, MARGUERITE NYST-SEIGNEUR quietly left us after a long period of suffering. She had also actively participated in the making of our Constitution, and most of all, she assumed the heavy burden of being AMASC Treasurer with brilliance and great competence.

Our hearts are mourning. But we know that both of them, who worked and fought so hard to build a better world, have entered the Kingdom where they now enjoy their eternal freedom in the presence and tenderness of God.

- DENISE PEETERS
first Secretary-General of AMASC
