NEWS FROM THE AMASC CONGRESS CONVENOR
We are now in the final year of preparation for the
12th AMASC World Congress in Sydney, 14-19th April 2002

Over the past 3 years the study plan has invited us all on a journey towards reconciliation;it has been designed to deepen our love of God, self and each other, and open our hearts to the richness of our diversity

The Congress programme will challenge both your hearts and your minds whilst we work together to unfold the core issues of Reconciliation - Issues which impact on all of us throughout our lives such as reconciling the place of women within the church; reconciliation and the environment; the impact of globalization on communities and how can we respond; reconciliation with world indigenous groups; as well as personal aspects of reconciliation within our families, workplace, communities, and indeed within our own Sacred Heart family.

We will gather together as one large loving family of Alumnae to hear inspiring speakers and share special liturgies. However, within the larger gathering we will sit at round tables in smaller groups to share our thoughts and experiences, and develop cross-cultural relationships. This way we will build the intimacy we need to speak of our differences, and the trust and confidence to share our ideas for change.

Socially we plan to show you the beauty of Sydney by taking you cruising on our wonderful Harbour; show you some of our rather strange animals; ensure that you taste our unique international cuisine; and warmly welcome you into our homes to share a meal, just as the city of Sydney will welcome you at an official civic reception after the Opening Mass at St Marys Cathedral. There will be an opportunity for you to book tickets to the Australian Ballet at the Sydney Opera House, and many, many other wonderful surprises! We urge you to arrive at least one full day before the Congress commences so that you can take in an orientation tour of Sydney, and to help you to adjust to "Down-Under" time.

Travelling Companions will not be neglected! They can chose from a range of activities such as tours to the vineyards or the Blue Mountains, golf , city tours, visit the Olympic site, climb the Harbour Bridge, visit Foxtel studios, visit Sydney's Old Town; "The Rocks" or simply take advantage of our interactive transport network to adventure around the city and environs.

We have been negotiating with a wholesale travel agent in Australia who has put together some options for pre / post congress tours which allows for your travel agents' commission within their price. The air transport is yet to be quoted but we will pass on this information as soon as it is available. Make inquiries in your own countries about special deals which NTAS frequently offer overseas
