Question for Reflection:  We have heard of that 3.4 million people die each year from water, sanitation and hygiene related causes.  As yet there is not a global scarcity of water.  However in 11 years, by the year 2025 it is predicted that 1.8 billion people will live where there is and absolute scarcity of water.
With these stark statistics do you see or experience signs of this coming crisis where you live?
Is there anything you are doing or can do to address this issue?

Question for Reflection:  Do you believe that access to water is a basic human right?  Why or why not?
What key questions do we need to pose as we look at industrial and economic development?
What do you feel is our responsibility to our one blue planet and all who live on it?

Questions for reflection:
Have you given any thought to the fact that we are overusing our water?
Has this overuse affected you personally in anyway?
Can you think of an action you might want to take to move us in a new direction?  OR
Do you feel this is not our responsibility?

Following Melanie’s presentation:  we will have a video called the Tears of God.  I will link this video to the presentation just given by Melanie.  When we speak of the family of the Sacred Heart and AMASC as part of that family we are a large group of educated women and men, spread around the world, who are committed to be the Heart of God in today’s world.  We are committed to be compassionate persons working for Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation wherever we find ourselves.   We chose to focus on water – it is only one focus we could have chosen- it is one element in crisis due to Climate Change.  Climate change directly affects millions around the world, often the most poor and vulnerable.  It is a deep call to each of us to listen to the cries of the most poor and vulnerable and do something to alleviate this suffering.  It is God’s call to each one of us.
