XV AMASC World Congress 6-9 November 2014

Friday November 7, 2014
WELCOME from Mary Maloney,
President of Arizona Alumnae/i Association

Welcome, AMASC and regional members.
Welcome to the United States for first time visitors, and welcome to Arizona and to Scottsdale.  Most of us call this great area the Valley of the Sun. Many of us have moved to Arizona from other countries or other states.  We have several different names for Arizona residents.  There are the transplants; personally I have lived here for 50 Years, the natives who were born here, and the immigrants who are indeed from another country. You are our visitors and number one on our list of important people to know. Thank you for allowing us to extend our hospitality.

As you all know this is the 15th meeting of AMASC, and we are celebrating the 50th year of their conception.  There was a great “air” of excitement in Arizona when our AASH association was asked to hold AMASC congress for the United States and Canada.  We do realize it is a privilege, this being the 3rd time the Congress has been held on this Continent. Our members are eager to meet our guests from all over the world. We will listen with an Open Heart to your achievements and you troubles, and hope to build lines of understanding and communication between our associations in every country.  Realizing the needs of our Sacred Heart friends and sisters is so necessary in building the foundation for a more perfect world. A world of love and generosity to all.

We have formed a group of ladies designated for hospitality during the Congress. We are calling them the Blue Ribbon Brigade and they are identified by their Blue Ribbons. The Brigade is available all day and evening to help you enjoy your visit to Arizona. They will act as the concierge service for the Congress. They can answer questions, give directions, and help with any item you might need.   And if one of them does not know, we will find someone else to give assistance. If you don’t want to venture off the resort property and would just like to visit, that’s alright also.

We especially hope you will enjoy the resort and all its amenities. In the spirit of our great State of Arizona, get up early and see the spectacular desert sunrise at about 6:59am. Additionally, we should all try to see the sunset, go on the patio, face the west and behold the view. Time is about 5:15pm. You can sit on the patio and see the beautiful green golf course, take a walk in the very pretty residential neighborhood nearby or you might like to play a game of tennis. We have great shopping centers within minutes, so in your spare time there is transportation available from the hotel.

Should you have an emergency, please do not hesitate to contact one of our alumnae.  We are here to serve you, our guests.

Please enjoy your day.
