FROM THE GERMAN ASSOCIATION

>The German Association has several hundred active members, split up into 12 regional groups with regional Presidents and a National President.

Each Regional President organises regular meetings, normally with a cultural program and time for prayer, friendship and mutual support.

Nationwide we get together twice a year in St. Adelheid-Pützchen (near Bonn) to celebrate the feasts of the Sacred Heart and of the Immaculata with rscj sisters. Twice a year retreats are offered and given by rscj sisters or Jesuit fathers.

Though the High School in St. Adelheid-Pützchen is no longer in the hands of the sisters but belongs to the Archdiocese of Cologne, the ties with the school are close, the Scared Heart spirit is kept up, and graduates become members of the association. Many sisters still live on the compound. There are no more boarders, but there are half-boarders; this institution is still run by the rscj sisters.

There are two more Catholic schools in Germany where there are rscj sisters teaching. The alumnae seek and find close and warm contact with the sisters. From regular meetings and personal friendships, we gain strength and courage for numerous engagements in

  • Parish work
  • Catechetics
  • Caritas
  • Church work
  • Politics
  • Organisations of Catholic women
  • Organisations of Catholic university graduates
  • Social and humanitarian work in many fields
  • Support for Eastern Europe

Several members hold prominent positions within these organisations. We are happy and grateful to have a sizable group of enthusiastic young alumnae. At present, we are quite busy with preparations for the Bicentenary celebrations.

Hieronyma Baronin Speyart van Woerden
