Madeleine Sophie Barat: A Life

Specially commissioned by the Society of the Sacred Heart to commemorate the Bicentenary of our foundation, this is the first major biography of M.S. Barat since the 19th century. It peels away the shrouds of hagiography and sainthood, and re-establishes her as an educator, a woman of the Church and individual in her own right. Author Phil Kilroy has had unprecedented access to the abundant material held in the Society's archives around the world, and material held in public archives in France and Italy.
