SPIRIT OF THE DAY

 Sister Helen McLaughin, RSCJ

Friday 19 APRIL, 2002

Eastertide is a beautiful season in which to hold a Congress. It is the season of surprises during which the Risen Christ appears unexpectedly. he did so to Mary Magdalen, to the Apostles.
Here too we have had our Apparitions - n'est-ce-pas? - often at unexpected moments, in unexpected places.
The gifts that the Risen Christ gave at each Apparition was PEACE, JOY and the gift of freedom - inner freed. He freed he Apostles of their fear, Thomas of his doubts, the disciples on the road to Emmaus of their despondency and lack of understanding.
Is this not what we have experienced here? - Peace, Joy, Freedom and Reconciliation.
Are not our hearts burning?
Let us take a moment to thank our God for these Easter gifts.
And then we shall have the Celtic hymn we had on Tuesday - I arise today.

ST.THERESA'S PRAYER.
(John Michael Talbot)
Christ has no body but yours,
No hands, no feet on earth but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which he looks
Compassion on this world,
Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good,
Yours are the hands, with which he blesses all the world.
Yours are the hands, yours are the feet,
Yours are the eyes, you are his body.
Christ has no body now but yours,
No hands, no feet on earth but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which he looks
compassion on this world.
Christ has no body now on earth but yours.
