"New Orleans and the Venues for the Congress"

One of the oldest cities in the United States, New Orleans is steeped in history and heritage, reflecting both a Caribbean flair and the old-world charm of Europe. It is a magical place where innovation is the norm, and people look to both present and future to create their rich and meaningful lifestyles. Founded in the bend of the Mississippi River in 1718, “La Nouvelle Orleans” was claimed for the French King Louis XIV and ruledby France and then Spain interchangeably until the Louisiana Purchase in 1803. So much of the French and Spanish influences are alive today in New Orleans, particularly in its customs, culture, architecture, music and cuisine. In addition, the weather is perfect in April (68F/20C).

New Orleans is also known for its world-class jazz. Luckily for the delegates, the conference coincides with the internationally renowned New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival as well as the French Quarter Festival, featuring music, food, crafts and fireworks.

Always a major port city, it bustles with industry and business interests. Come and experience the charm of this old-world city in the midst of our streamlined world.
Join us in April 2006 and allow yourself to be transported by the rhythms, colors, aromas, food and music of this remarkable, charismatic, ever-changing city. To learnmore about the fascination of New Orleans, please visit www.neworleansonline.com.

THE VENUES
Registration and Congress meetings will be held in the legendary Fairmont Hotel. For more than a century this hotel has stood as a landmark of elegance in New Orleans. Setting a standard for beauty and service, it is situated in the central business district and adjacent to the historic section of the city, called the Vieux Carre or French Quarter. It is close to various types of entertainment, shopping, antique stores, restaurants, museums and riverfront attractions. Our second hotel, The Hampton Inn, situated only a block and a half from the Fairmont, shares the same advantages.

Across the street from the Fairmont Hotel is the Jesuit Church of the Immaculate Conception. Mass will be offered every morning at 7:30 am, Monday through Wednesday.

The last afternoon of the Congress will be spent on the campus of the Rosary, in the century old Sacred Heart Convent and in its newly acquired property, Mater Admirabilis, one block away. Both are located on beautiful St. Charles Avenue, lined with majestic oak trees and animated with picturesque, rumbling streetcars.
