"Congress Committtees"

The AMASC World Congress is held every four years and is an important opportunity for Sacred Heart alumnae/i of the world to meet on common ground, confident of our shared spirituality, tradition and values. There is no better place to celebrate AMASC's XIII Congress than next spring in New Orleans.

The Congress in New Orleans will begin on Saturday, April 22, 2006 with a special day for a meeting of National Presidents, AMASC current and nominated Boards and Emeritus Members only.

The General Congress will begin on Sunday, April 23, 2006 with a magnificent liturgy at St. Louis Cathedral, the oldest active cathedral in the United States and one of the notable landmarks in No rth America. It looks out upon the Crescent bend of the Mississippi River and the green grasses and trees of Jackson Square, where most of the important events in the history of the old city took place.

The mass will be followed by a Welcome Reception at the Presbytere, another historic building next to the cathedral. It now forms a part of the Louisiana State Museum, housing many exhibitions, including “Mardi Gras: It’s Carnival Time in Louisiana”.

The theme of the XIII AMASC Congress will be “Collaboration for a Transformed World.” Working together we will be challenged to see the changes that all of us face each day and how these changes, through cooperation and generosity of spirit, can engender a common view, solidarity and peace.
